This is a letter and envelope addressed to William Garwood from Albert Woolson the last surviving Union soldier of the Civil War, dated 1952. The letter describes Woolson's duty as a drummer for the "Co. C 1st Minnesota Heavy Artillery " ..."in 1864-5" with "Major General Sherman Commander"; aged 17 1/2.
