This knife is 10.5 in. overall length with a 6.5 in. dagger point blade. Dug-up from the Fredericksburg, Va. battlefield the original makers mark is no longer visible. In the style of a Manson tang knife. The guard is believed to be missing and the antler scales are secured with three pins. However, this knife may have been a well-used knife at the time of the Civil War. The architecture of the knife follows the pattern used by Pennsylvania and Virginia-Kentucky Long-Hunters and may be considerably older than the 1860's conflict between the states. C.1820's.
