Very rare. Inc. in Colorado. "Buena Vista, Colorado" (printed under title). No. 75, issued for 10 shares to William P. Clark in Buena Vista in 1886. Signed by president Lewis Reployb(?) and secretary Ursdale. Not cancelled. Nice gold octagonal seal in the style of a $50 gold coin with horseshoe. Small upper right chip, 3 small corner creases. Not listed in C&L. Newspaper articles from 1884 mention work done at Camp Clarence, Chaffee County, by the Clarence Mining Company. They own the Fannie Wyatt Mine, along with a boarding house, shaft house, and ore house. An earlier article in 1884 mentions a scandal involving the Clarence Mining Company and the Colorado Mining & Land Exchange selling lots at Clarence, Colorado, a proposed town located 13 miles from Buena Vista and 2 miles from the Famous Fannie Wyatt Mine. The town of Clarence may not have actually ever been built. [Carbonate Chronicle, August 2, 1884] However, in 1885, the Clarence MC is still reported to operating the Girard, Golden Star, and Carrollton near Buena Vista. The Fanny[sic.] Wyatt lost its ore house in an avalanche in the winter. [Buena Vista Democrat, January 1, 1885]
