Very early! Established at Boston, Massachusetts, 1864. No. 158, issued for 100 shares to Nathaniel Silsbee on March 29th, 1865. Signed by president Jon Harrington and treasurer Isaac Story. Pen cancelled. Blue paper, green seal. Border cut tight, as evidenced by the 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp that was also trimmed. 7.5 x 7.75" Nicked corner, some staining, tape remainders on reverse corners. According to Hollister, 1867, the Clear Creek Tunnel Company owned 600 feet on the Kinney Tunnel Lode on North Clear Creek at Black Hawk. "Adit driven in on creek level and on vein 60 feet, crevice of gossan six feet wide, with thin streaks or formations of very rich ore, assaying as high as $600 per ton in gold, improving rapidly. Also a mill site on the creek at mouth of adit, dwelling house and lot near by, and 25 horse engine now in use in a saw mill at Guy Hill" (pg. 189). () Ken Prag Collection
