Location: Gold Hill (printed to the left of vignette). Inc. May 1863. No. 67, issued for five shares to OH Carpenter on May 18th, 1863 in Gold Hill. Signed by president HH Flagg and secretary OH Platt. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Nice vignette of wagon in front of mine building. Towne & Bacon Printers, SF. 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp at left (likely applied later). Pinholes, folds, creases and a puzzling repair: the upper left corner (with the stamp) appears to be a replacement. 4 x 9" This company is not listed in Collins 1864 directory. However, HH Flagg is listed as stock and commission agent (and later a noted Gold Hill banker), and OH Platt is Gold Hill postmaster. Carpenter is not listed. Flagg was one of the first trustees of the Virginia Virginia City Water Company. He was also a Territorial Senator from Storey County. Flagg ran the Maynard & Flood Bank when Maynard retired to Massachusetts a rich man. City: Comstock, Gold Hill State: Nevada Date: 1863
