3 articles recovered from the Easton trunk found at the S.S. Central America shipwreck. 1.) Sash (?) Possibly a woman's silk sash, 50 x 2 inches. The interesting feature is that it is composed of two different pieces, one attached in what appears to be half way up on one of the two sides. No pattern discernible, other than the fine squares from the freeze-dry process. The extended length of this piece of fabric strongly suggests it is a sash rather than a man's tie, which is the same width but usually far shorter. 2.) Men's dress shirt. Pleated top front, billowed sleeve ends at cuffs, three button hole front, buttons gone. Heavy staining. 35" overall, sleeve 19", neck 13". Significant degradation to the lower back and a bit in upper quarter. A bit on the front. 3.) Men's long wool underwear. 3 button fly with 3 buttons present. 4 back tie holes with 3" ties. 2 2" cloth loops. 5" form fitting cuff, left has small bottom tear. 42" length, 36". Otherwise, no apparent degradation, just stained.
