The Daily Alta California on January 22, 183 reported, "A RICH LEAD - We were yesterday shown a button, the yield of crushing some of the Cochico Gold and Silver Mining Co's rock, accompanied with a certificate that it assays $239.90 to the ton, being $48.36 in gold and $245.54 in silver. The lead is located in Florida Canon, Humboldt county, Nevada Territory, where the company have a mill site, with seventy feet fall of water. They intend erecting a mill as soon as the weather will permit next spring. The Humboldt District is near present day Imlay in Pershing County.
