Beautiful Medallion commemorating Victor David Brenner who designed the Lincoln penny in 1909. He stamped his VDB initials into the coin. Soon a controversy followed concerning the initials. Some said that as Brenner had been paid for his design, what he did was strictly as a workman, & no recognition was necessary. Others said that the letters were too prominent, & that few knew what abbreviation meant. This beautiful medallion is made by The Metal Arts Co. Inc., in Rochester NY. This is .999% silver. It has a beautiful rendition of Mercury on reverse side & is 3" round & 7.5 oz. Salvatore Falcone Collection. City: State: Pennsylvania Date: 1961 HWAC# 79112
