Big Collection of Cards & Souvenirs mostly from La Porte, CA: 1) Photograph of Nelle Costello Miguel and Annie Williams, framed portrait, measures 5.7 cm x 8.1 cm (in total), not dated. 2) Souvenir La Porte School- District, Plumas Co., CA, Summer Term 1897 presented by J. V. Parks, Jr., teacher. Listed Trustees: Frank Cayot and H. Washington and John Hillman as clerk. Gold print on 2 pages held together by cord, embossed border, measures 7.7 cm x 13.1 cm. Second page lists pupils that attended, first page on back, handwritten names of Rosie Bustillos and Joe Miguel. 3) Operators license from the Motor Vehicle Department of California #93415 issued to Arthur T Gould, Quincy, Plumas Co., CA on Jan 30, 1919. Sent from Sacramento on Jan 31, 1919, adhesive 2 cent red postage stamp on front. Reverse shows A.T. Gould's details. 4) Page from "Ladies' Note Book and Calendar", front is very artistic, green and purple print by Niagara Lith. Co. Buffalo, NY. Central vignette of "Dr. Pierce", on reverse a description and promotion of the laxative he was selling. Around the central vignette, 2 ladies holding up the portrait of Pierce, in a Greek setting. 5) Collectors card: Rogers Silverware Free to Customers, Keystone Grocery, Dinuba, CA. These were collected and redeemed for silver ware (e.g. 50 cards bought you a coffee spoon), sent to Rogers Redemption Bureau Inc., NY. Expired on Nov 1, 1925. 6) Money Order Remitter's Receipt #593933: Well Fargo & Company, for $6 sent to W.H. Smollinger(?) on Apr 23, 1894. Measures approx. 2" x 3". 7) Ticket #86 for Grand Fourth of July Ball, Golden Anchor Parlor No. 182, Native Sons of the Golden West, Jul 4, 1905 in La Porte. Tickets included supper for $3. Blue and red print on white paper. Red vignette of American flag in center background, red stars as border. Measures approx. 4" x 2.5". 8) Midsummer Nights Dream Booklet, held by ribbon. "Selected Characters and appropriate Quotations, gold print with colored Shakespeare vignette in center. Thick, beige embossed paper front and back. Inside: 4 double sided page with 4 colored drawings (Puck, Oberon, Titania and Hermia) including Shakespeare quotes. Tiny Calendar attached to inside of cover page, all 12 months for 1903 intact. 9) Booklet by the Argonaut Parlor, 17th Anniversary Dance on May 14, 1898 in Oroville. 2 page held by orange ribbon, small pencil attached to one end, tassel on the other, unused. Oroville Register from 17 May 1888, Page 3, mentions the seventh anniversary of Argonaut Parlor No. 8. Blue print on beige paper. On insides it lists the nights program and and the order of dances. 10) Christmas Card titled "Forget me Not", beautifully detailed, embossed color print. Gold accents, ornate border. Gold print on inside" A happy Christmas and bright New Year to you" from Beckie McKenzie. On back, "Publishers to her Majesty the Queen", trade mark "Artistic Series". Measures 4.5" x 2.5". 11) Seasonal Greeting Cards: 1. Easter Greeting Card, double sided decorated with white, cloth fringes around the edges. Pictures of 2 flower bouquets (1 each side) with very vibrant colors. Card itself measures approx. 4" x 2.5 ". 2. Christmas Card, 2-sided, flowers and cross, with Christmas wishes, white, cloth fringes around the edges. 3. Christmas Card, 2-sided, flowers and Christmas Wishes, red cloth fringes around the edges. 4. Greeting Card decorated with blue cloth around and on the card, another small envelope. 5. Greeting Card, decorated with red cloth around the edges, Small cutout of a Lady's Portrait surrounded by vibrant flowers, color print, embossed. 12) 12x Business Cards of Mrs. Maxwell & Son, Resident agents , La Porte, CA. Black and blue print on white paper. Measures 3 7/8" x 2.5". Prominent agents , their building had burned down in the fire of 1919, with an estimated loss of $10.000. [Ref.: ROTM by J.E. Garvis] Mrs. Maxwell & Son are mentioned to provide supplies and services in the Plumas Independent from 11 Aug 1932, Page 4 and in the Feather River Bulletin from 18 Aug 1927, Page 7. 13) 3x Business Card of Francis Cayot, Union Hotel, Stage house and Livery Stable, La Porte. Black print on white paper. Measures 3 7/8" x 2.5". 14) Business card of J.H. Thomas, Mines and Mining, Clunie Building, California Street, SF. Residence on 14th Street, Oakland. 15) Business Card of Grabby Bill's Dude Ranch, "On Beautiful Bucks Lake", "Horses for pleasure and horses for business". Definition of a woman on reverse. Black print on white paper, 3.5" x 2". 16) Business Card of Dr. J.M. Mussey, handwritten note on front, "La Porte, Dec 25, 1909".Illegible name on reverse. Measures approx. 3" x 1.5". 17) Business Card of L. B. O'Rourke, candidate for supervisor in the 5th district of Plumas County, primary election Aug 25, 1942.Black print on beige paper, 3.5" x 2".
