1) Letterhead of Office of Chief Quartermaster, 16th Army Corp. Written to the Chief, Department Quarter Master in Memphis Tennessee. About paying for and getting needed supplies.1863; 2) Letter written for a soldier in the Douglas Hospital in Washington D. C. Sent to his family. He got sick on picket duty and the doctor says it is chronic rheumatism. On U. S. Christina Commission letterhead. Transcription included; 3) 1861 letter on union letterhead - We Have Beat Our Last Retreat. 1861. Written from Mormaston. Not war related; 4) Letter written near the Rapidan River on August 3, 1863. Lee is on the Rapidan at Culpepper 12 miles from us. Also mentions friends killed and harassing Lee. With envelope; 5) 1863 letter from Quartermaster at Vicksburg. Letter refers to shipping bales of cotton going to St. Louis. However, it was sent by private vessel Sunshine and agent wants government vessels used. AN INTERESTING AND ASSORTED GROUP!
