Rare mining district (Montana) and designation (C.T.). Territorial assay receipt. Colorado Assay Office. Datelined Central City, C.T., 7th, August 1868. Specimens of ore taken from A.T. Stewart Lode, Montana District. Assayed for Wm. A. Brown. Results: 12 oz. (silver), 10 dwts. (gold). Signed by E.E. Burlingame as Territorial Assayer. Register Print, Central City. The Montana Mining District was located in Clear Creek County, and housed the towns of Lawson, Dumont, and Downieville [ref: Colorado School of Mines Map Room].
