This set of all eighteen (18) Colorado USGS Geologic Folios were created by the USGS at an intense time of exploration, development and discovery of ore deposits in Colorado. These each carry a regional topographic map, and geologic map with sections, accompanied by text of the region inclusive of discussion of ore deposits. They are authored by some of the finest geologists to work for the USGS. One of the first folios in the entire series is the Pike’s Peak folio (USGS Folio 7) published in 1894 near the start of the Cripple Creek gold rush. These folios are outstanding research tools for any geologist, mining geologist or mining historian. They show the old mining camps, mine sites (great for mineral collecting) and geology. The 18 folios are: Pikes Peak (7) (1894), Crested Butte (9), Pueblo (36), Ten Mile (48) (1898), Telluride (57), El Moro (58), La Plata (60) (1899), Walsenburg (68), Spanish Peaks (71), Silverton (120) (1905), Rico (130), Needle Mtn (131), Nepesta (135) (1906), Ouray (153) (1907), Engineer Mtn (171), Apishapa (186), Castle Rock (198), Colorado Springs (203) (1916). The condition of the set varies. Some are mint, others have secondary library covers with damaged original covers. Those that are familiar with the folio series know that the covers are brittle. Many are x-library or x-private geologist library. They measure about 2 x 3 feet each and contain generally about 10-20pp.City: County: State: CODate:
