Lot of 2 different. 1) Mitchell Mining & Milling Company. Inc. in Colorado. No. 45, issued for 100 shares to NH Hayford in 1880 in Denver. Signed by president FC Taylor and secretary Suther Kauffman. Not cancelled. Ornate black border and print, fancy title and mining vignette. Printed by Collier & Cleaveland, Denver. Folds and creases. 6.75 x 10" Not listed in Fossett or C&L. An article in E&MJ Vol. 30 (Dec. 1880) asks for an update on the status of the mine and gives its location as Gilpin County. Pencil notation on stock says "Southeast side Quartz Hill, Gilpin." 2) The Colorado Silver Mining Company, Limited. No. 1357, issued for 10 shares in 1891. Signed by two directors and the secretary. Pinholes, folds. According to an 1883 article in The Rocky Mountain News, this was a Scottish mining company that bought the Cunningham Gulch properties of the Pride of the West Mining Company, Silverton, San Juan County. In 1890, it was also reported that they had properties near Georgetown.
