Four pictorial Colorado National Bank certificates of deposit, issued 1866-67, three signed "Kountze Co.," one signed Luther Kountze. All have one tied adhesive revenue stamp. 4" x 8", printed by ABN. Two have ink stains. Luther Kountze (and brothers) were very important bankers in Colorado and then New York, also influencing Nevada. Kountze formed the Colorado National Bank in 1866. After the Denver fire of 1867, he was instrumental in saving the city from financial disaster. They eventually relocated in New York in 1868.
