Purple border and print, vignette featuring Colorado state seal. No printer listed. 5.5 x 7.5" Light wear. The Colorado Oil Company was first formed in the 1860s and tried to drill for oil outside of Florence, Fremont County, Colorado. Production never reached high levels, but, in 1881, Alex Cassiday (this company's president and an oil promoter) and oil driller Isaac Canfield struck deep oil at the Oil Spring site.
