Inc. in Colorado. No. 45, issued for 150 shares to AL Lawton, secretary, in 1890 in Colorado Springs. Signed by Lawton and president FL Martin. Not cancelled. Vignette of streetcar with "Pikes Peak Ave" printed on the side. The Colorado Springs Rapid Transit Railway was chartered in 1890. They bought the system created by the Colorado Springs and Manitou Street Railway who had began horsecar trolley service in 1887. The Colorado Springs Rapid Transit Railway established the first electric trolley line to Manitou Springs in October 1890, as they transitioned from horse-drawn to electric trolleys. In 1901, Cripple Creek millionaire W.S. Stratton bought the line and combined it with the Colorado Springs & Suburban Railway Company to form the Colorado Springs and Interurban Railway.
