Before the description of the mines in Colorado is a small, but hand colored map of the wagon route from Atchison (St. Joseph), Missouri to Central City, Colorado. 650 miles. We have never even seen a reprint of this map. Only measures 8 1/2 x 4 1/2". Still it is a marvelous primary source document. The booklet is 13 pages packed with information about the new territory of Colorado. "Gold is the chief interest of the Territory." Booklet once resided in the Library of Congress! Front cover and pages are detached.
