This is a black powder.41 caliber deringer made by Colt. The production run was from 1870-1890 with only 6500 pieces made. The Colt precision craftsmanship is visible throughout. This deringer appears to be made in 1884 with an all-matching numbers gun of S/N 468X. The frame was silver plated and the barrel blued. The gun now wears a lightly blued barrel patinated with the frame lightly plated and crisp metal engraving. The action is still functional and fairly tight. The Colt address is visible on the top barrel flat "Colt PT. F. A. MFG. Co. No. 1 HARTFORD CT USA" on two lines with a cross at either end. Looking closely, Colt assembly letters are visible on the face of the chamber under the barrel and between the spur trigger and the barrel pivot. A beautiful finish on the barrel swivel screw remains.Rifling is good and crisp with the .41 cal. stamp visible below the barrel release. A limited production of this model makes for a pleasing addition to anyone's Colt collection. Salvatore Falcone Collection.
