This is a Colt model 1849 Pocket pistol with a birthdate of 1865 with a 4 in barrel. S/N 270189 with a non-matching cylinder #9195. The stagecoach robbery scene is still visible. This little gem is .31 cal. with a near perfect bore. The blue finish is a blue-plum-silver color. The Colt address is single line on the barrel top flat with "Colt's Patent" on the left side of the frame. The grips are original with a small chip out of the bottom right side, the varnish finish is about 50%. This gun functions properly. A replacement screw is used at the trigger pivot position. The trigger guard is marked ".31 cal. on the flat on the left side. Colt made over 300,000 of this model gun; the longest production run at Colt up to that time. This is the gun many carried west after the Civil War. It may have been made too late to be carried in the war, but after the war were turbulent times with reconstruction in the south and expansion in the west. This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. This is an antique, non FFL firearm. Please see photo for details.
