This restored Colt is a model 1849 Pocket pistol or otherwise known as a Pocket Dragoon S/N 3457 with a birthdate of 1853. A two line address on the barrel bracket "Address Col. Colt / London" bracket. At .31 Cal. 5 shot cylinder and a 4 inch barrel. This gun is a non-firing presentation piece with 98% bluing. The metal has been highly polished before bluing. The screws are polished and nitrate blued including the trigger. The maker is Colt with a London address, but should be a dragoon model on Colt serial look-up. The grips are old walnut with handling marks possibly retrieved from an original gun and a blued trigger guard. Colt model 1849 pistols were never made in this quality of finish or as a 2nd generation with a continuing serial range. With a walnut case an antiqued brass plaque.
