This is a 1st generation Colt Navy pistol S/N 91492 with a birthdate of 1859. This Navy has matching numbers however the cylinder is badly worn where the naval battle scene and serial number are no longer visible. The bore is clean and bright without pitting. A worn wedge and incorrect capture screw keep this gun from being tight on the arbor. Timing is good. Original one piece grips with original finish. "Colt's Patent" on the left side of the frame indicates this is a civilian issued firearm. However, many Union infantry men carried the Colt Navy as a personal back-up gun during the Civil War. It comes complete with a US embossed infantry issued holster. The brass rivet hardware on the holster indicates an early contemporary issue and in very good condition. This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. This is an antique, non FFL firearm. Please see photo for details.
