This is a shadowbox that includes an 1888 silver dollar, an 1872 annual railroad pass from the Denver and Rio Grande Railway for Mr. J.L. Sanderson on account with the Frontier Overland Mail Co. and signed by Wm. J. Palmer (president). It also includes a dig-up Colt New Line Pocket revolver in .38 cal. RF. with a 2 1/4 in. barrel (c.1873-1884). The revolver is non-functional with grips attached and a spur trigger.

The Denver & Rio Grande Railway 1872 Annual Pass, issued to Mr. J.L. Sanderson on account of Frontier Overland Mail Co. -- is a reproduction made as a giveaway for a bank anniversary celebration in 1972. (Please note the spelling error.) The one and only original is owned by a museum. (Railroadiana Online).

This shadowbox makes for a great presentation however the pass (a fake) issued in 1872 predates the revolver manufacture by one year; and Mr. Palmer was not President of the rail-line until 1883-1901. Earliest production of the New Line Colt would have been 1873. The revolver is real and so is the silver dollar! Enjoy them for what they are.
