This is a nickel plated Colt revolver Single Action Army S/N 150696 built in 1893 with a 7.5 in barrel and chambered for .38-40 cal. The revolver is built on a black powder frame with the arbor pin and screw in the frame with rounded shoulders on the cylinder. Serial numbers on the frame, barrel lug, and backstrap all match; there is no serial number on the cylinder. The nickel finish has some light bristering on the frame and trigger guard. The guard has the inspector letter "G" on the forward bar left side of the guard. "79" is stamped at the loading gate. The grips are black hard rubber and show some wear with the rampant colt logo on top and without any chips. The bore is bright and crisp; the cylinder has light pitting forward. The ejector rod has a dimpled head. The caliber is not marked on the gun. The frame left side has two line patent dates (three) followed by the rampant colt logo. The barrel is marked on top "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT U.S.A." in one line. The model line is,"COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" without a frosted background left side on the barrel which is consistent for this late date of manufacture. Condition is very good and timing is perfect. The gun also comes with a large scabbard holster. This is a true Cowboy gun at .38-40 to match the caliber of the Winchester model 1873 (also in this auction). This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No FFL required. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, or Hawaii. Extra shipping may apply. Please see photos for details.
