This beautiful Colt revolver is chambered for .41 cal. and is the bird's head grip model 1877 Thunderer. There were three models of this gun in various barrel lengths. There was a more common .38 cal. Long Colt known as the Lightening. The .32 cal. Long Colt known as the Rainmaker and this model the largest caliber .41 cal. Long Colt known as the Thunderer. This beautiful revolver known as the 1877 model Colt double action revolver was Colt's first attempt at a double action revolver. Highly successful, these guns were produced from 1877 through 1914. This gun is 80% all original nickel with untouched hard rubber Colt medallion bird's head grips. This gun has a niter blued hammer with polished sides as original; a niter blue trigger and niter blued screws. It is in the very rare 5 in. barrel length ejector model and is mechanically perfect with tight lock-up and excellent single-double action mechanics. This gun is S/N 714XX made by Colt in 1888.
This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. Date: Location: HWAC # 55365
