This water system was in the heart of the California gold mining area and an important source of water for the miners! Number 67, issued on March 3rd, 1856 to the company secretary. Chartered in 1854. Signed by president (illegible) and secretary O. Bonney. Reverse has a handwritten transfer in 1857. Ornate logo and border, no vignette. Printed on thin paper. 5.75 x 9.75" Folds, light wear. Competed early on with the Tuolumne County Water Co., but later combined and supplied most of the ditch water used in the county by 1867. Supplied water for the Gold Rush camps of Columbia, Yankee Hill, Gold Springs, Mormon Gulch, Saw Mill Flat, Martinez, Jamestown, Montezuma, Chinese Camp, and others.
