Very rare. No. 3224, issued April 7th, 1863 to Asby P Minear for one share of stock. Signed by the secretary, Joseph Hetcher and Thomas H Smith as president, a noted sea captain. Not cancelled. Attractive certificate with blue and red prints, and paddle steamer plus locomotive vignettes. Printed by Farmer Print, 97 Front St., Portland. Spindle holes in upper left corner. 5.25 x 8.25" Inc. in 1862. Meant to be the main competition to the Oregon Steam Navigation Company. Ran steamboats on the upper and lower Columbia River but were eventually incorporated into a larger steamboat monopoly. A beautiful locomotive imprint seal in lower left hand corner.
