The Columbian Centinel Newspaper Boston, Mass. Sept 11, 1802. This was a Boston, Mass. newspaper, (1790-1840) established by Benjamin Russell. This was a continuation of the Mass. Centinel and Republican Journal of 1784.Considered to be the most influential newspaper after the Revolution. It aligned itself with Federalist sentiment. During this time it's circulation was the largest in Boston until c1800, it's closest competitor was the Independent Chronicle which was anti-Federalist. It eventually became the Boston Herald.
