Eight stocks from Comanche or Comanche County. All were issued in 1919. Includes two from Comanche County Oil Company, Deleon, Texas; Comanche Home Oil, Comanche, Texas; Columbia=Texas Oil; Comanche Queen Oil Association; Comanche Home Oil #2, Waco; Comanche Gusher Oil, Comanche, Texas; and Comanche Central Oil, DeLeon, Texas. All of the certificates have oil derricks or gushers. Oil drillers moved into northern Comanche in the wake of the Eastland County discoveries and brought in wells at Sipe Springs, Sidney, Comyn, and Proctor; De Leon became an important supply center to the oilfields. The peak year for the Comanche County oil boom was 1920, when production was 328,098 barrels. A small amount was still being produced in the county by 1938 (tshaonline.org).
