A coin struck to commemorate the victory by Zackary Taylor in Texas depicts the likeness of the General on one side with the battles won and on the reverse side is the American eagle and shield "Untied States of America 1847", at 1 inch across. There is a block print engraving of Z. Taylor taken from a daguerreotype image published by Johnson, Fry & Co. Publishers New York.
A beautiful vignette of soldiers on horseback is a bottom center. 8.25 in. X 10.5 in. water staining at the top and foxing of the borders. The dispatches from General Taylor as a message from President James K. Polk to congress is included with the communications from General Taylor to Mexican General Pedro D'Ampudia dated May 1846.
