A commemorative faux gold ingot, punched "Alaska 1980 / $5,873.46" On the reverse is "6.71 / FP" This appears to be a gold painted lead ingot that is probably a commemorative from the first modern pour at the Donohue Mine, Valdez Alaska, from the Fechner Collection where many of the native gold specimens came from in this sale. This ingot was with Fechner's gold specimens, but was unmarked. The value shown on the ingot would have represented January, 1980, when gold peaked at about $875/troy ounce.
