Lot of eight checks for figures and companies heavily involved in bringing lumber to the Comstock mines. 1) Four Bank of California checks from 1878 signed by D.L. Bliss; two are issued to himself, one to Issac Requa, one to Geo. King. Bliss acting for the Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Co. 2) Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Co. check, RN-G, signed by Bliss, 1878. 3) Two Nevada Bank of SF, RN-G, 1879, signed by J.B. Overton for Hobart & Marlette. Hobart & Marlette operated a mill and flume in Little Valley (between Incline Village & Washoe Valley) starting in 1873. 4) Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Co. check, RN-G, 1879, signed by J.B. Overton. Overton acted as supt. while also helping to run the Virginia & Gold Hill Water Co. Hobart & Marlette incorporated in the Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Co. in 1879. (Prag Collection)
