Lot of 12 ore specimens from Comstock mines that came from the Crystal Bar collection. Mine supt. TF McCormick, who ran many of the major mines in the early 1900s, famously paid for his bar tab with ore specimens. The Crystal accumulated a large collection. This group includes: 1) Yellow Jacket Mine, Gold Hill. Two specimens of silver ore, 1.5 x 2" and 2 x 2". Site of the horrific fire of 1869. 2) Belcher Mine, Gold Hill. Site of the Crown Point-Belcher bonanza in 1870. One piece of silver ore, 1.75 x 1.5". 3) Chollar Mine, Virginia City. Quartz specimen, 2" long. 4) Crown Point Mine, Gold Hill. Site of the Crown Point-Belcher bonanza in 1870. 3 x 2" 5) Savage Mine, Virginia City. Silver ore, 2 x 1.25" 6) Ophir Mine, Virginia City. Discovery site for the Comstock Lode in Virginia City. 2 x 1.75" 7) Justice Mine, Silver City. Silver and gold ore specimen, 2.25 x 1.5" 8) Con. Virginia Mine, Virginia City.
