Lot of 5 different. Nevada became a territory in March 1861 and became a state on Oct. 31st, 1864. 1) Very early Sept. 1861 blue Wells Fargo & Co. issued to C. Russel. Signed by RN Graves as supt. for the Empire Mill & Mining Company. These blue checks are the earliest Nevada checks. 2) Green print Wells Fargo & Co. with printed Virginia City designation. Issued in Oct. 1862 to T. Lane. Signed for the Empire Mill & MC by Wilder. 3) Maynard & Flood, Gold Hill, 1863, issued by the Imperial Silver Mining Co. 4) Stateler & Arrington, Virginia City, 1864, issued to Thomas Cashin. Signed by Charles Bonner (for the Gould & Curry). Bold red cancel. 5) Paxton & Thornburgh, unissued, Virginia City, NT dateline.
