These 17 unidentified mineral specimens are know to have come from the Con-Virginia Mine in Virginia City, Nevada, in the famous Comstock Mining District. Specimens include high-grade silver ore, pyrite, and a blasting cap can containing a specimen labeled "graphite." Total weight of the collection is nearly 2.5 pounds and is contained in a Chanecellor cigar box with a detached lid. Also included is a 1.8 pound specimen of what appears to be a magnesium silicate approximately 4.5 inches tall and 3.5x3 inches at the base with waxy lustrous tan crystalline structure.
