This is a set of fourteen, one-troy-ounce, 999 silver coins commemorating the Ghost Squadron, a.k.a. the Confederate Air Force of historic aircraft from World War II from the United States, England, and Germany. These are the same designs as appear in Lot 77102, however this set includes a slightly different selection of aircraft.

The obverse designs in this collection of fourteen coins each commemorate a different aircraft and include the following:

B-17 BOMBER
B-24 LIBERATOR
B-25 MITCHELL (2 pieces)
B-26 MARAUDER
B-29 BOMBER "Superfortress"
F4U CORSAIR
F6F HELLCAT
ME-109 FIGHTER "Messerschmitt"
P-38 LIGHTNING
P-40 WARHAWK "Flying Tigers"
P-47 THUNDERBOLT "Jug"
P-51 MUSTANG
SPITFIRE

The large clamshell case exterior is sticky and has lost some of its blue leatherette coating, but the inside blue velvet is intact and in good condition. It appears the recesses in the velvet were designed for the coins to be encapsulated, but they are not in capsules. The inside cover is white satin with a silver foil embossing of the crest of the Confederate Air Force. A red-white-and-blue ribbon is mounted diagonally from the left side of the inside top to the lower edge. No documentation was found with this lot. It comes from the bankruptcy liquidation of Northwest Territorial Mint. Date: City: Dayton State: Nebraska HWAC# 77100
