This is a family photo album that includes family and significant members of the Confederate Army. The family photos are all from studios in New Orleans while most CDVs (Carte De Vista) of Confederate generals are copies of originals without references to the original photography studio.
There is a CdV of a 12 year old boy wearing a Confederate uniform. His name is Louisa Kellogg with a backmark of Edward Hipple Studios in Philadelphia, Pa. 2.5 in. X 4 in.
There is a studio portrait photo of two well dressed men: (Lt.) Ea. B. Talbot of McKelly Scouts/ Major General John Austin Wharton's Cavalry Corp. part of the Trans-Mississippi Army. (Rt.) William A. Jaffier Company J. 2nd Cavalry of Major Joseph Brent's Brigade of the Trans-Mississippi Army. Major Brent was also Head of Ordinance for the Confederacy. History has largely forgotten the importance of the Trans-Mississippi Corp. (established in 1862) which included Ark., Lousa., Tx., N.M., Az. due to the larger focus of activities on the Eastern Theatre. (CdV Anderson & Turner N.O.).
There is a CdV of Major General Dabney Herndon Maury of the 20th Miss. Infantry. A studio period copy.
There is a studio copy photo of Colonel John Singleton Mosby of Mosby's Rangers known as the "Grey Ghost" for his ability to disappear from Union troops. A studio period copy. Today, Mosby remains a controversial figure in history.
A CdV of Generals of the Confederacy include Stonewall Jackson, J.E.B. Stuart, Joe. Johnston, Beauregard, Morgan, Longstreet, and R.E. Lee. A studio copy.
A CdV of the Virginia State Capitol Building in Richmond, Va. designed by Thomas Jefferson in 1788 served as the Virginia General Assembly.
