AND signed by president Averill!!! The mine owned the mining camp of Averill which was in the canyon below the county seat of La Plata, Churchill County. This certificate is signed by president Roger Averill, Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. No coincidence here. # 78 for 500 shares to H. S. Harrison on October 20, 1865. Signed by secretary F. M. Wheeler(?) and president Roger Averill. Located in Mountain Wells district, Churchill County, Nevada. Issued in payment for mining property. 25c Certificate revenue stamp. Pre-stamped with circular October 14th stamp. Minor issues (nick top center, small tear bottom left), over all extremely nice! Two underground mining vignettes. Fred Mayer & Co., lithographer, New York. The Connecticut and Nevada had seven ledges and were working on three: the Satellite, Vermont and Washington. They had 2,000 feet of tunnels and shafts. Rock near the surface assayed at $30 to $135 and at one hundred and forty feet $1,500 a ton. The Mountain Wells district is usually referred to as the La Plata district. Includes more information on the mine, rare camp, and Averill.
