Consolidated Imperial Mining Co. – Gold Hill, Storey County, NV - Certificate # 39002 dated May 27, 1879, for 5 shares at $100 per made out to E. A. Richardson, Trustee. Incorporated in San Francisco on April 13, 1876, and capitalized at $50,000,000; 500,000 shares at $100 per. Signed by President C. S. Weller and Secretary W.E. Dean. Alpheus Bull was also on the board. Vignette of two allegorical woman at lower left, one reclining and holding laurel wreath, the other standing and wearing crown. In 1876 William Sharon consolidated many of the small rich claims between the Yellow Jacket and the Bullion except the Confidence and Challenge mines located in Gold Hill. These included the Bacon, Bowers, Consolidated, Eclipse, Empire North, empire South, Imperial North, Imperial South, Piute, Rice & Co., Trench & Co. and Triglone claims for a total of 431 feet on the Comstock Lode representing many of the first claims discovered on the Comstock. These small claims were often referred to as the “Little Gold Hill Mines”. From 1864-1891 total recorded production was $9,232,000 from about 440,000 tons of ore. From 1866-1876 these mines produced $3,520,000 from 160,000 tons. Hale, Jr. Incorporated Jan 29, 1874, and capitalized at $10,000,000; 100,000 shares at $100 per. Datelined San Francisco. Signed by John Skae, President and J. W. Clark, Secretary. 1200-foot claim north of the Rock Island claim, (p. 231 Pacific Coast Mining Review 1878-79). One assessment stamp and signed by Clark and endorsement of Hale on reverse. Lithographer G. T. Brown S.F. Embossed seal at bottom left. Uncancelled. Approximately 4” X 9.25”. Black print on crème paper. Certificate No. 297 for 100 shares. Folds. Otherwise very fine. Signed by secretary, Van Bokkelen and president, Robert Sherman. Datelined San Francisco October 1, 1878. Incorporated Sep. 1878. The claim is listed on the T. D. Parkinson 1875 map and index to the Comstock Mines as 1500 foot located between the Storey and Alta claims. Not Cancelled. Two vertical folds and cut unevenly.
