Original cabinet card photo by M. M. Hazeltine of the construction of the Monarch Mill at Atlanta, 4.25 x 6.5". The Atlanta (Monarch) was the most successful mine in the district. This new mill was built (completed 1883) to replace the older mill built in the 1860's. The building under construction here was added to later, as illustrated in Wells' Gold Camps and Silver Cities, p. 61 (1983). Burchard (1884, p. 445-447) has a lengthy discussion of the Monarch. Some foxing on top. Date: Location: Atlanta, Idaho HWAC# 61216
