Small but heavy, solid copper ingot weighing about 4.2 pounds with the initials C R molded into one side. This most reasonably signifies Copper Range at the southwest end of the Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan. The consignor's father is known to have done work or visited the White Pine Mine in that area, so perhaps it came from that location. The ingot is 4.75 x 3.25 x 1.25 inches, and it has a nice coating of ruby cuprite that formed on it as the molten metal cooled. It is a uniquely beautiful display piece.
