116 pages. Copy of the deposition of G.C. Staggs for the court case of Trent, Huntington, & Whitman vs. Austin, Wadley, & Hunt. According to a 1938 report ("Gold Deposits of Slumbering Hills, Nevada") by Frank C. Calkins, the Austin family leased the Jumbo Mine to H.L. Hunt and J.K. Wadely in May 1937. Huntington & Whitman owned a group of mining properties that adjoined the Jumbo on the south and west. H.L. Hunt was a very well-known Texas oil tycoon and political activist. At the time of his death in 1974, it was reported he had the highest worth of any individual in the world. G.C. Staggs was one of the original discovers of the Jumbo in 1935. This case most likely involved a dispute over property boundaries. A closer read is warranted! From the Gordon Harris Estate.
