Two page hand written Way-Bill (17 x 14 inches): left side is United States Mail Line California Stage Company from Marysville to Sacramento, July 23rd, 1866 with five passengers listed; right side is H. W. Corbett Oregon Stage Company from Sacramento to Marysville, Tuesday July 24th, 1866, with 27 (!) passengers. Lists Where From/ Destination / Dollars paid/ By Whom Received. On the stage were bankers Wheeler from La Porte and Rideout from Oroville, and several Chinese passengers. Stagecoach history! The Oregon Stage Coach Company, owned by Henry W. Corbett, ran a major stagecoach route between California and Oregon in the mid 1800s. Henry Corbett, of Massachusetts, came to live in Portland in 1851. He became a co-publisher of the Oregonian newspaper, and in 1867 he served as a US senator.
