"Morelos Chihuahua Mexico" printed at top center. The mines of the company are printed above the San Francisco dateline: "Santa Barbara & Mt. Laseter Consolidated." Inc. Sept. 1863. No. 161, issued for 104 shares in 1864 to Nathaniel Page. Signed by the president (illegible) and secretary Henry R. Reed. Uncancelled. Black border and print, vignette of Mexican countryside (top center) and mining scene (left border). Lith. Drouaillet, SF. 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp at bottom left. One pin hole, cut tight from stock book on left. Otherwise, no edge, corner, discoloration issues. This stock appears to have been sold and resold multiple times but on the "QT" since there should have been revenue stamps paid for each transaction. According to Daily Alta California, Volume 16, Number 5140, 29 March 1864: "Several workings of the ore from the Santa Barbara Mine, Morelas Mining District, Chihuahua, Mexico, produced by S. F. Clousens' amalgamating process. Wheeler's pans, gives $1,100 to the ton in silver and gold. Second and third quality ore, from the same mine, worked at Wheeler A Thayer's mill, North Beach, produced $476.92 to the ton. This ledge has been purchased by the Cordillera Gold and Silver Mining Company, of this city, for the sum of $19,000. The ledge is seven feet wide, and well defined, from which the sample ore was taken giving this result. A mill is now being built at the Miners' Foundry for this Company, which will be shipped soon, and will be in operation, it is erected, before the rainy season commences."
