$5000 bond issue to WH Vanderbilt March 1, 1881. Signed by C Vanderbilt as VP and possibly WH Vanderbilt as assistant secretary. Holes through signatures. Brown border. On reverse are no endorsements. Rare pairing of the Vanderbilt railroad financial empire. Cornelius Vanderbilt II was the favorite grandson of the "Commodore" and son of WH Vanderbilt. WH inherited this railroad when his father died. When the Michigan Central Railroad came through in 1880, the village of Vanderbilt, Michigan was established.
