Three pieces of correspondence from the time of the California Gold Rush. These letters are addressed to A.P. Catlin. Amos P. Catlin was elected as a California state senator in 1852. He was the senator who wrote the bill to make Sacramento the permanent state capitol. At least one of these letters is dated 1853, so they were mostly likely written to him during his term as a state senator. The letters are mostly related buying state scrip and land warrants. These letters are approximately 7.75 x 9.75, good condition.
