Stock Certificate from the Corydon MC. Incorporated in Colorado Territory. Certificate number 979 issued in 1866 at New York City to GH Haight(?). Signed by president Hiram A.Johnson and E. W. Whitney. Size 10.5" by 7.25" inches. Average condition. Not cancelled. Two mining vignettes: scenic and underground. Located in Nevada District, Colo Terr. Revenue stamp. According to Hollister, the company owned 600 feet on the Corydon at the lower part of Nevada Gulch. There is a 275 ft. deep discovery shaft with a 140ft drift on the 100 ft. level and a 40 ft. drift on the 250 ft. level. 1,500 tons of ore have been taken out, assaying $12-37/ton. They also have 400 ft. on the Newfoundland, 400 ft. on the Lyman (shaft 110 ft. deep, 2 foot ore-vein), 400 ft. on the Excelsior, and an 8-stamp mill in Nevada Gulch [pg. 195-96].
