Two pages containing an account of an 1855 court martial against four U.S. Army dragoons presided over by Jefferson Davis, who served as U.S. Secretary of War at the time. According to the account, the four dragoons in question attempted a drunken mutiny while on a military expedition in New Mexico against the local Native Americans; following this mutiny, they were court martialed and all four were sentenced to death. The account was taken from a bound manuscript of some kind, as traces of adhesive and perforations for binding are visible along the left margin of the pages. The pages are extremely legible and in good condition aside from damage to the left margin. [ Taos New Mexico
