This tintype photo depicts three men and two are armed with Civil War vintage arms. The arms carried are lesser known firearms of the CIvil War making this photo extremely rare. The two men seated, each are carrying Smith carbines. These carbines were issued to the 1st Connecticut Cavalry and the 7th Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War. The man on the left has a Cooper revolver inside his waistband. The fellow on the right has a Bacon revolver tucked into his waistband. The follows are wearing chaps and holding lariats indicating that they are now cowboys after riding for the Union cavalry. Post Civil War c. 1860's. (ref.
