Five checks total: four from Cripple Creek, one from Colorado Springs. 1) Two different A.E. Carlton checks, both not listed in Castenholz. Both from 1900, signed by Carlton, who was a central financial and mining figure in Cripple Creek. Known as the "King of Cripple Creek." Both cut cancelled. 2) Certificate of Deposit, First National Bank, Cripple Creek. Pin holes. 1900. 3) Smaller First National Bank, Cripple Creek check, 1900. Issued to Smith Bros. Signed by Frank J. Taylor. Very fine. 4) DeBerry & Powell, Mines and Mining Stocks, drawn on El Paso County Bank in Colorado Springs. Feb. 10, 1900. Signed by Powell. Pinhole. (Prag Collection)
