Stock Certificate from the Cripple Creek and Colorado Springs Railroad Co. Incorporated in Colorado. Very early certificate number 5 issued in 1915 to G.G. Hamlin. Signed by president (?) and Hartwell. Size 10.875 by 8.25 inches. In nice condition. Not cancelled. 5 cent documentary stamp. This certificate has a beautiful central vignette of a steam locomotive and an embossing over a printed gold seal in the lower left. Black ink has been overprinted with gold-colored ink. Red revenue stamp appears on the right edge. Page is creased indicating it had been folded in thirds, but the creases are not torn or cracked. According to the 1915 Annual Report of Cripple Creek Central Railway Company, the Cripple Creek and Colorado Springs Railroad, formerly known as the Golden Circle Railroad, took on the equipment, terminals, and assets of the Florence and Cripple Creek Railway. Operated 1915-1921, succeeded by the Midland Terminal Railway.
